Dr. Elijah Denecke (Purdue Fort Wayne) and Dr. Flint Angeroth Franks (Southern Arkansas University), will present a recital of trumpet works accompanied by Dr. Jonathan Young (Purdue Fort Wayne) on piano. A variety of styles will be presented including concerti, jazz, and a programmatic duo piece.

Have you ever heard the term "velvet rut?" The Deneckes hadn't either, until Jacob used these words to describe their return to The Bull on their lady of the gardens tour in May 2023. You'll find several definitions of "velvet rut" online, but we liked this one from Urban Dictionary: "Any enduring situation, esp. professional, marked by some hardship, but for whose lush benefits a person nonetheless finds it difficult to extract oneself." LOL! Indeed, The Deneckes experienced the hardship (and joy) of grad school while students in Gainesville, Florida, but also the lush benefits of many-a-night playing music at The Bull. And so, we return again and again.
